An historic initial event to start the conversation and listen carefully to the North Texas LGBT Community on aging and care-based service models (after 35 years of the community being HIV/AIDS centric, often ignoring youth, aging, and transgender members of the community in seeking funding, and with providing services and support):
Begin the process of moving LGBT service providers in DFW from an HIV/AIDS centric service concept to a full life span/age continuum service concept for every members of the LGBT community. A dramatic shift in funding and operations that must occur for care-based organizations serving the LGBT Community to survive long-term and create new strategic initiatives.
